- Gedi Ruins and Kipepeo Butterfly Project – while in Watamu visit the ancient ruins of Gedi, an ancient 13th century fortress used to house slaves before they were shipped on to Zanzibar.
- At Kipepeo you can see thousands of different butterflies whose pupa is sold overseas by the local community. Guides are available at the visitors centre.
- BioKen Snake Park – in Watamu. Set up by James Ashe a giant in the snake world. The farm is a major world leader in the production of anti-venom to reduce snake bite deaths in the local community and for export.
- The Gede Ruins remain as a hidden secret. While at Gede ruins you will be able to come across old ruin houses, palaces, courtrooms, wells, mosque which were built with plaster, sand and coral dated back to 15th Century.
- Visit to the National Museum which has displays of excavated glass, persian and porcelain. Thereafter, proceed to Malindi Swahili Town. You will come across the stone known as Vasco da Gama Pillar placed by Vasco da Gama back in 1499. Here you will also have a chance to see the Portuguese church next to the pillar.
